Fried Halloumi Cheese Curds
- As needed Vegetable Oil
- 16 pc(s) Breaded Halloumi Cheese Curds
- 0.25 cup(s) Za'atar Seasoning
- 2 tbsp(s) Parmesan Cheese Block
- 1 cup(s) Whipped Feta
Breaded Halloumi Cheese Curds
- 3 each Eggs Large
- 2 fl oz. Buttermilk
- 2 cup(s) All-Purpose Flour
- 0.5 cup(s) Cornstarch
- 1 tsp(s) Kosher Salt
- 0.5 tsp(s) Ground Black Pepper
- 1 lb(s) Kontos® Halloumi Cheese Cut into 1 oz. cubes
Whipped Feta
- 1 cup(s) Kontos® Domestic Feta crubmled
- 0.75 cup(s) Kontos® 9% Milk Fat Greek Yogurt
- 1 tbsp(s) Olive Oil
- 2 tbsp(s) Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp(s) Lemon Zest
- To taste Kosher Salt
- To taste Ground Black Pepper
Instructions
Fried Halloumi Cheese Curds
- Pre-heat a fryer or large pot filled with vegetable oil to 375 degrees F.
- Fry the curds for 4-5 minutes or until golden and crisp.
- Shake off excess oil, place the fried curds in a large mixing bowl and toss with za'atar seasoning.
- Transfer the curds to a serving dish and garnish with freshly grated paremsan, serve with a side of whipped feta for dipping.
Breaded Halloumi Cheese Curds
- Whisk together eggs and buttermilk in a large mixing bowl.
- In a separate large mixing bowl, combine flour, corn starch, salt and pepper and mix until well incorporated.
- Bread the halloumi in batches; Start with dipping the cheese curds in the egg mixture, ensure cheese is fully coated.
- Transfer the curds into the flour mixture and coat all sides.
- Spread out the breaded curds on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and refrigerate until needed.
Whipped Feta
- Combine all ingredients in the base of a food processor, process until smooth; Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Transfer in to an airtight container and refrigerate until needed
