Kontos Foods Donates $10,000 in Food to Local Charities

Kontos offers flatbread, baklava, ahead of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, to Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Hilltop Haven

Paterson, N.J. – Dec. 20, 2016 – Kontos Foods, Inc. (www.kontos.com), a U.S.-based manufacturer and distributor of traditional Greek and Mediterranean foods, today announced that during this holiday season the company has donated over 250 cases of Pita Bread, Flatbread and Baklava to organizations dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty in New Jersey. The estimated retail value of the donations is about $10,000. Local charity recipients include Community Food Bank of New Jersey and Hilltop Haven, a women and children shelter based in Paterson, N.J.

Kontos Foods donated several types of flatbread, including its White Pocket-Less Pita, Grilled Panini Bread and ethnic Tandoori Nan. Additionally, Kontos donated 12 cases of Classic Greek Baklava. Donations were made to both the Community Food Bank and Hilltop Haven.

“Poverty is pervasive in our community and nationwide, making it difficult for many families to put food on the table every night. Kontos, hearkening to its charitable Greek roots, is once again partnering with places like the Community Food Bank of New Jersey and Hilltop Haven to try to make this holiday season a little nicer for those in need,” said Steve Kontos, vice president of Kontos Foods.
